Let’s make our communities safer, one stop at a time.

The National Coalition for Safer Roads theme for ‘Stop for Red Week’ is ‘Safe Stops. Stronger Communities’.

Running a red light is a serious and preventable act that puts lives at risk, by promoting safe behaviour at intersections, we’re actively contributing to a culture of safety that benefits everyone on our roads.

This April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month in the United States. Partnering with Sergeant Adam Moore and the Highway 7 Safety Coalition, Acusensus is using our Heads-Up Real-Time Solution to detect distracted driving behaviours in the United States.

Since February 2025, our system has securely sent photos of drivers on their phone to officers parked down the road. An officer reviews the images and decides whether to issue a citation and reinforce safe driving behaviours. We are optimistic our partnership will encourage people to drive without their phones, both during and after Distracted Driving Awareness Month.

Intent on reducing crashes and roadway fatalities, Heads-Up Real Time sends images of improper seatbelt or phone use to a nearby police officer, who decides whether to pull over the vehicle.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol engaged Acusensus in a state-wide Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) enforcement program using the Acusensus Heads-Up Real Time solution. The technology provides advanced detection and capture of distracted driving and seatbelt non-compliance, transmitting data almost instantly to law enforcement officers who are deployed less than a mile from the solution in the direction of incoming traffic.

The program has seen 6 times more seatbelt violations and 9 times more mobile phone violations per month in the first two months of the program in 2023 compared to the previous years before the program commenced.

Arkansas Speed Program https://www.acusensus.com/arkansas-speed-program/ Mon, 14 Oct 2024 05:50:09 +0000 https://www.acusensus.com/?p=1527 Acusensus Harmony Real Time is being utilized in a program focusing on work zones in Arkansas.

Acusensus solutions are used in the speed enforcement program focusing on work zones in Arkansas. This program utilises Acusensus’ Real Time solution, where our transportable enforcement systems capture images of speeding vehicles in work zones. Information regarding the speeding vehicle is transmitted to an officer stationed downstream in the direction of traffic, who will then have the authority to issue a warning or citation. The program has received positive feedback from key stakeholders and has been instrumental in raising awareness about the importance of adhering to speed limits in work zones.

Delivering Impact:

  • Crash Reduction: The program has contributed to a substantial 45% decrease in crashes in work zones in Benton, Arkansas from August 2023 to March 2024.
  • Enhanced Safety: Road workers and motorists experience a safer environment, reducing the risk of accidents and injuries.

Acusensus looks forward to continuing the important work of reducing speeding in work zones to keep road workers and motorists safe. Legislation was introduced in Arkansas, encouraging programs such as the Arkansas Work Zone Speed Program to continue to commence. Senator Kim Hammer and Representative Larry Fite introduced the legislation, which was approved by the Arkansas State Legislature and signed by Governor Sarah Sanders. The law allows for the use of real time speed enforcement devices to capture images of speeding vehicles in interstate work zones.
